Frequently Asked Questions
Are front-clip harnesses bad for my dog's joints or shoulders?
This worry comes from harnesses that sit wrongly — tight straps cutting across the shoulder joint. The ProWalk™ uses a padded Y-front chest plate that sits on the breastbone, below the neck and clear of the shoulders, so the legs move freely. Fit matters more than anything: follow our fitting guide (two fingers under every strap, chest plate low on the breastbone) and the load spreads across the chest, not the joints. It's also far gentler than the alternative — a collar snapping against the throat every time your dog lunges.
Where exactly should it sit?
Low on the chest — on the breastbone, not up near the throat. If it rides high, loosen the neck strap and tighten the belly strap. A correctly fitted front clip is what makes the redirection work.
Does it really work without training?
The mechanics work from the first walk: pulling turns your dog sideways instead of moving them forward. Most dogs figure out within a few walks that pulling no longer gets them anywhere. For strong pullers we still recommend rewarding loose-leash moments — the harness makes that training 10x easier, it doesn't replace it.
Won't a bungee lead teach my dog to pull?
The bungee is there for you, not the dog — it absorbs the jolt of sudden lunges so your shoulder doesn't take it. The front clip does the anti-pull work. If you prefer a fixed lead, the ProWalk™ works with any standard lead.
